The Webyssey Graphic Novel!

by hectorlowe on January 10th, 2012

Alright, it’s time to plug shamelessly. I am trying to make a Webyssey graphic novel, and if you’re a repeat viewer on this site, there’s a good chance that you’re quite fond of that story. Those who’ve never read it should go here now.

I’m using kickstarter to fund the operation, and aiming for a total amount of $8,000. That’s not an immodest amount, I’ll grant you, but nor is it impossibly huge. In fact, at time of writing, I’ve already accrued over $1,500 thanks to friends, fans and total strangers. If you’d like to pledge some money, know that ANY amount, down to as little as a dollar, is important to me, and I thank you. The more people who pledge anything, the more buzz is generated around the project online, and thus the more likely it is that people will donate more money.

But here’s the kicker: unless we make the target amount ($8,000), no money changes hands. That’s right; it’s not as if you’re just throwing money into a rusty bucket with no guarantee of return – every person who donates can know that I won’t get a red cent unless we reach my target. It’s essentially like saying “I’ll chip in if everyone else does.” Moreover, attached to every donation are fabulous prizes! You can get a copy of the book, a written dedication or even appear in the book or re-design the cover, all depending on how much you’d like to donate!

So go now, my friends, click one of the many links on this page, and hear my spiel!

Riddle Me This

by hectorlowe on May 2nd, 2011

Here it is folks. I have designed a T-Shirt for sale on Threadless.com – It’s an awesome concept, based off The Riddler’s classic motif (but unique enough to avoid copyright infringement, nyuk nyuk.) If you would like to see it made, just click here and vote it a 5/5. I could be looking at some ‘mad coin’ here, which would allow me to spend more time on this comic.

Riddler T-shirt

Speaking of which, if you’re wondering why there have been no updates, It’s because I have been dealing with a bit of a family crisis the last month. I shan’t bore you with details, but suffice it to say, there’s a good reason I haven’t had time to draw. I’m sorry.

There should be a new Webyssey this week!

Misdirection

by hectorlowe on February 27th, 2011

I’m so sorry for the mislead, folks. I had intended to update last Sunday, but due to difficulties at work, I had to delay my ambitions. In order to compensate for my gross act of deception, I will attempt to bring you not one, but six new pages of The Webyssey in the near future – possibly by Monday or Tuesday. That’s three different entries, looking at it another way. My apologies, and god speed.

Silly Tabletop Arr Pee Gees

by hectorlowe on February 16th, 2011

RPG Party
From left to right: Mr. Wiggles, Flame McBadass and his dragon ‘Drogan’, Biff Badclaw The Don’t Care Bear, and Ethelbert the Drunken Monk.

Last week my friend Mark Bowen invented a game. And though it was played with numerous dice on a gridded board, though we had character sheets and stat bars, and a points system with which to assign ourselves different traits and skills, this was no ordinary RPG. In the first area we fought wild hippies from whom we gathered nourishing marijuana, before fight Gary Motherfucking Oak in their grow-house. I defeated an enormous half-wolf, half-aging-latina by throwing ectoplasmic faeces at her. One of our number was a Rock Star Bear, by which I do not mean a large, hairy homosexual, but an actual bear.. The final boss we fought before we adjourned was the Octomom who attack us by shooting feral foetuses from her cephalopod vagina, one of which I ate to gain nourishment. Never before have I advised anyone to “smoke that shit now – we can smoke out the foetuses and get the dragon shoot fire up that bitch’s snatch”. I have a feeling that it may not be the strangest piece of combat advice to be issued playing this game.

We completely made up the combat rules, attacks, abilities et al. on the fly, which led to a very amusing, improvisational style of play. It may well have been the most fun RPG I’ve ever played. Where else can you have a party line-up consisting of the race/class combos of Ghost Lab-Chimp, Dragon-Riding Stoner, Rock Star Bear, and Alcoholic Monk? In case you’re interested, I was the phantom primate.

Workin’ Nine to Five…

by hectorlowe on February 6th, 2011

…What a way to make a livin’.

Sorry that Friday’s comic didn’t go up on time, I’ve been super busy at work. I’ll have it done by Sunday evening or, depending on what time zone you’re in, Monday morning.
